Hike #21 2021

May 16th, 2021

Waterfall time! Here in Fort Collins, spring is the best time to view waterfalls. There is a popular waterfall hike just west of town, and we knew the falls would be at its peak around this time. When we arrived at the trailhead there were only a couple others getting ready to begin their hike, though they were taking a different trail than us so having the waterfall to ourselves looked promising. We started this hike at 5:30am and hiked while the sun slowly illuminated the surrounding hills.

Like we hoped, we were in fact the only ones at the waterfall when we arrived, yay! There’s not a whole lot of room to move around in this area so having it be just Scott and I, and the 3 dogs, was perfect.

We were able to spend about 30 minutes here enjoying the waterfall before we could hear more people heading towards us, which is when we began our hike back. We hiked 2.5 miles with 482 ft of elevation gain.
