Hike 88 2020
September 6 - Rocky terrain to alpine lakes
It should come as no surprise that we arrived at the trailhead early, leaving the house at 3:20am and getting there at 5:20am. We put on our hiking boots and got the dogs ready to go and were on the trail before the sun even came up. Watching the sun hit the mountaintops is something that will never get old. The trail meandered through the trees for a short period of time before reaching our first alpine lake.
The trail up to the second lake was very rocky so we had to make sure to watch our step.
Once we reached the second lake we took some pictures and waited for the sun to peak over the mountains behind us before heading back down.
On our way down we spotted a moose in the meadow behind the dogs above and spent some time watching it lay in the tall grasses.
We also stopped at the first lake again.
We hiked a total of 5.6 miles with 855 ft of elevation gain.
