Hike 87 2020
August 29 - Cloudy with a chance of dirty dogs
Prior to starting this hike we knew the weather was going to turn stormy late morning so we set off early in an attempt to beat it. We were on the trail before the sun came up and hiked through the trees for a little ways before the trail opened up to show the surrounding mountains.
The trail itself was fairly wet from the rain this area got the night before so the dogs gradually got more dirty as we hiked. After a short uphill climb we reached the lake where we spent around 30 minutes taking pictures and wandering around.
We could see clouds moving in quickly so we made our way down the trail, taking a different way than we did going up in order to form a loop. The dogs managed to get themselves even more dirty on the way down, particularly their back legs.
We got back to the trailhead just in time before the clouds opened up and started to rain. We hiked a total of 5.5 miles with 600 ft of elevation gain.
