Hike #15 2021
April 24th, 2021
If there’s one area that proves to be the most inconsistent and unpredictable weather wise, it’s this one. We have attempted to do this trail several times already this year but the wind has always been way too strong for us to hike, even if weather reports say otherwise.
Today we were finally able to complete it, despite it being extremely gusty near the lakes. We began our hike at 7:50am and were greeted by a cloud inversion occurring in the mountains behind us. We snapped a couple pictures before heading along the trail. This trail is on a closed winter road which was covered in snow the whole way up.
A look at what’s to come
It was another chilly hike as you can tell from Bella’s frozen beard.
This was our turn around point. We were trying to go a few hundred meters more to the snow covered lake in front of us, but the wind was very strong up here. Wind and blowing snow is definitely not our favorite. We quickly snapped some pictures and headed back into the trees that sheltered us from the wind.
Here is another lake we stopped at on our way down.
We hiked a total of 5.60 miles with 567 ft of elevation gain.
